AT&T acquires Wayport for $275M
We are pleased to announce that Waveland Technology Partners, L.P. ("WTP" or the "Fund") has received its first payment from the sale of WTP portfolio company Wayport Inc. to AT&T, a $275 million transaction that was completed in December. Wayport has become a leader in the wireless broadband access market, with over 8,000 hosted WiFi hotspots, including high-volume locations like McDonald’s and Starbucks. The profitable divestiture of Wayport is particularly significant given the tremendously difficult market conditions and the general lack of recent corporate transactions.
