Michael J. Greer
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer
Since entering the financial sector in 1981, Michael Greer has significant experience as an investment banker, financial advisor, corporate executive and entrepreneur. As Waveland’s CEO, he specializes in sourcing and structuring energy and private equity transactions, identifying sources of capital, and advising clients through all stages of corporate growth. Since co-founding Waveland Capital Partners in 2000, he has established the firm as a highly regarded boutique investment bank that has consistently performed for its clients in both good and difficult market conditions. During his career, Mike has also been actively involved in the oil and gas exploration industry. Mike founded Energy Partners, Inc. to co-venture natural gas exploration and production projects in California’s Sacramento Basin. Energy Partners was later acquired by Benton Oil and Gas Company, a NASDAQ-traded exploration and production company. Through Mike’s efforts, Benton Oil expanded its operations to include major projects in the Texas-Louisiana Gulf Coast. The company was also active in Russia and Venezuela. Mr. Greer is a licensed General Securities Principal with FINRA.
Vickie J. Greer
Chief Operating Officer
Vickie Greer has over two decades of experience in operations, administration, legal services, investor relations and broker-dealer relations, and commercial banking. Since co-founding Waveland, Vickie has established a comprehensive platform to process investments, facilitate broker and investor relations and, in coordination with legal counsel, comply with corporate and securities law. Prior to her involvement in the financial industry, Vickie spent many years as a paralegal with law firms in both Irvine, California and El Paso, Texas.
Executive Vice President
Mr. Irvani has over 20 years of private equity, investment banking and corporate finance experience. Prior to joining Waveland, Sam held the position of Manager, Revenue Finance and M&A at Western Digital Corporation (NYSE: WDC) where he supported a $2.5B product group as finance manager, as well as being involved in the firm’s strategic corporate development initiatives including multinational acquisition targets. Before Western Digital, Sam served as Vice President at Citigroup Global Markets where he provided M&A and corporate finance advisory services to middle market clients up to $500M in enterprise value. Sam’s finance career began at Ford Motor Company and the Bank of Montreal in treasury and financial analysis functions. He received a BS in mathematics and physics from the University of Toronto and an MBA in finance from McMaster University in Canada. In addition, he holds FINRA Series 7, 27, 28, 79 and 63 registrations, and has also served as director on the boards of numerous Waveland investments.
Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Dinh is a Certified Public Accountant with over 20 years of experience in finance across various industries, including oil and gas, manufacturing and distribution. Prior to joining Waveland, from 2006 to 2007, Mr. Dinh served as Chief Financial Officer for Cabinetec, Inc., a leading cabinet manufacturing company. From 1999 to 2005, Mr. Dinh served as Controller of U.S. Filter Recovery Services, a Siemens Company, manufacturer and distributor of wastewater filtering systems. Prior to that, from 1996 to 1999, Mr. Dinh served as Assistant Controller for Grant Geophysical, a $150M oil services corporation. Before Grant Geophysical, from 1993 to 1996, Mr. Dinh was the Financial Reporting Supervisor at Air Liquide of America, a multibillion dollar international company. Prior to that, from 1990 to 1993, Mr. Dinh served as Accounting Manager for Kenfil Distribution, a $200M publicly-traded consumer software distributing company. Mr. Dinh began his career in 1989 as an auditor at Arthur Young & Co (Big 8 accounting firm). Mr. Dinh’s core expertise includes optimizing cash flow, improving profit, building processes and infrastructure to facilitate growth, managing operations and financial planning. Mr. Dinh earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from the University of Texas.
Chief Compliance Officer
Lance began his career as an examiner with the Dallas District Office of FINRA (formerly NASD) from 1996 to 1998. While with FINRA, Lance conducted examinations on member firms; areas examined included adherence to annual exam priorities, supervisory controls, surveillance systems, marketing material, product due diligence, licensing, registration, net capital computations, independent and bank broker dealer firms, written supervisory procedures, and customer complaints. Prior to joining Waveland, Lance held the position of Chief Compliance Officer at several broker-dealers and investment advisory firms from 1998 to 2018. In these roles, Lance was responsible for handling FINRA, SEC and State regulatory requests through correspondence and onsite examinations and implementing any corrective actions or supervisory control improvements as a result of those exams. Lance has extensive experience presenting senior management with key recommendations designed to eliminate or mitigate risk to the firm. Lance holds the series 7, 24, 63 and 65 industry licenses. He is also a member of the National Society of Compliance Professionals.
Douglas J. Jacobson
Prior to joining Waveland, Mr. Jacobson, served as CO-CEO of Primary Natural Resources IV, LLC and CEO of Whisper Rock Resources, LLC. Prior to serving with those two private E&P companies, Mr. Jacobson served 16 years with Chesapeake Energy Corporation, before retiring in July 2015. His position at Chesapeake upon retirement was Executive Vice President – Acquisitions & Divestitures. During Doug’s career at Chesapeake, he negotiated and/or managed the consummation of over 8,500 acquisition and divestiture transactions exceeding $70 billion in value in the aggregate. Prior to joining Chesapeake, Doug was employed by Samson Investment Company. He was serving as Senior Vice President, Project Development and Marketing at the time of his departure from Samson and in that capacity, he managed Samson’s acquisition and divestiture efforts. Prior to joining Samson, Doug was employed as an auditor with Peat, Marwick, Mitchell & Co. He has served on various Oklahoma legislative commissions, including the Commission of Oil and Gas Production Practices and the Natural Gas Policy Commission. He is a certified public accountant and graduated from John Brown University with a B.S.B.A. and from the University of Arkansas with a M.S.A.
James D. Beavers
Mr. Beavers has over 37 years of experience as a geologist/geophysicist and has served as Geoscience Advisor to Waveland since 2017. His knowledge of conventional reservoirs and unconventional hydrocarbon resource plays, in addition to relationships with key industry players, provides a strategic advantage for generating and evaluating oil and gas opportunities and JV partnerships for Waveland. Mr. Beavers started his career in June, 1981 as a Geologist at Kerr-McGee Corporation generating prospects in the Anadarko Basin and Powder River Basin and has held positions of increasing responsibility with Helmerich & Payne, Santa Fe Energy, Williams and EOG Resources. He joined Chesapeake Energy (NYSE:CHK) in June 2002 as a Senior Geophysicist and his responsibilities included 2D and 3D seismic interpretation in the Anadarko Basin, Mid-Continent, Rockies and Gulf Coast regions. Some of Mr. Beavers’ prior leadership roles with Chesapeake include serving as Senior Director – International Exploration & Special Projects and Geoscience Manager – A&D / New Ventures from May 2005 to October 2013 where he led international efforts in Canada, Mexico and South America, in addition to evaluating numerous domestic and A&D opportunities throughout the U.S. During that time, Mr. Beavers and the New Ventures team were instrumental in the discovery of the Haynesville Shale and Eagle Ford Shale resource plays for Chesapeake. After leaving Chesapeake in October 2015, Mr. Beavers provided consulting services to American Energy Partners, founded by Aubrey McClendon, ex-CEO of Chesapeake, for the Vaca Muerta shale play in the Neuquén Basin, Argentina, and the Pimienta shale play in the Tampico/Misantla Basin, Mexico. Mr. Beavers has more recently provided consulting services for private equity-backed companies exploring for and developing existing and emerging plays in the Mid-Continent, Permian Basin, Gulf Coast, Rockies and Appalachian areas. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology from the University of Oklahoma and is a member of the AAPG, SEG, HGS, and OCGS in addition to other national and local organizations.
David B. Roberts
Mr. Roberts has served as Engineering Advisor to Waveland since July 2014. Waveland utilizes the expertise of Mr. Roberts to support Waveland’s economic analysis and technical evaluation of prospective investment projects. Mr. Roberts has over 36 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, serving in various engineering and engineering management positions. Dave is also currently working as a Reservoir Engineering Consultant to Warren American Oil Co. based in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Some of Mr. Roberts’ prior work experience includes employment as Senior Vice President of Engineering for Nadel & Gussman; Senior Reservoir Engineer for Vintage Petroleum; and Production Engineering Manager at Apache Corporation. Mr. Roberts received a B.S. Degree in Petroleum Engineering from Oklahoma State University in 1980.
Mr. Winter has served as Geoscience Advisor to Waveland since 2017 in the areas of geology and geophysics. Mr. Winter has over 30 years of experience in onshore U.S. conventional and unconventional exploration, exploitation and development of oil and gas reserves. Mr. Winter’s extensive knowledge of Mid-Continent stratigraphy and structure assists Waveland with its technical analysis and evaluation of prospective projects. Prior to performing consulting services to various independent oil and gas companies, Mr. Winters served for 19 years (from 1994 to 2013) in geoscience management positions with Chesapeake Energy in Arkansas, Kansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Texas. Mr. Winter, based in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, graduated in 1986 from Baylor University with a Bachelor of Science in Geology.

John Naslund began his career in the financial services industry in 1975. During his career, John has been retained by several major world-wide financial institutions as a variable product and planning specialist, providing expertise and assistance to national securities firms and representatives servicing highly accredited clientele. John was conferred the designation of CFP® by the College of Financial Planning in Denver. He is a licensed General Securities and Municipal Securities Principal with FINRA. He has been conferred the Chartered Life Underwriter designation by the American College in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, and is a member of FPA®, the National Financial Planning Association.
Russell W. Young
Senior Vice President
Russell Young has over 29 years of experience in financial, estate and tax planning, and real estate and securities transaction structuring. Prior to joining Waveland, Russ was an independent financial advisor focused on asset management for high-net worth individuals. Before establishing his career in financial services, he served as the Director of Transfusion Services at the Maryland Institute of Emergency Medicine before entering the private sector as a specialist in medical equipment sales. He is a licensed Registered Representative with FINRA. Russ holds a MS equivalent in Immunohematology from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, and a BA in Biological Sciences with a concentration in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry from the University of Maryland.
Jamie Harmon, CFP®

Jamie Harmon joined Waveland as Senior Vice President, East Region. Jamie heads up our sales efforts in the eastern United States. Jamie is an accomplished financial wholesaler with a very successful track record and has over 18 years experience in the oil and gas industry. Jamie graduated from the Isenberg School of Management, University of Massachusetts Amherst. He began his professional career as a financial advisor working within the Independent Broker Dealer universe where he earned his CFP® mark. His previous experiences enable him to relate to advisors and develop and deploy solutions that work in the real world. Jamie is located in our East Coast office outside of Boston.
Craig H. von Peters
Senior Vice President, West Region
Craig is Senior Vice President of the Western Region and is responsible for managing relationships with both investors and Financial Advisors. Having begun his career over 25 years ago with Lehman Brothers, he has been involved in all facets of wealth management and institutional private capital markets, including private equity and hedge fund investing. Before establishing his career in private equity, he spent 10 years advising institutional investors in the Middle East and Europe in alternative investments. Craig recently returned to Waveland; from 2004 to 2009, he was a member of the Waveland team. Craig is integrally involved with strategy, platform development, acquisitions, and most importantly, building and managing relationships. Prior to rejoining Waveland, Craig was Director of Business Development for Anfield Capital Management, an institutional money management firm. Prior to Anfield, he was Director of Business Development for Keystone National Group, a private markets credit investment firm managing investments for family offices, foundations and lnvestment Advisors. Earlier in his career, he provided strategic advisory services to venture funds and early stage companies. He was a founding member of VentureRound Group, a New York based, boutique investment bank where he managed relationships with over 200 private equity funds and corporate development groups. Before VentureRound, as Managing Director, he spearheaded product development in the alternative investment group of MFR Capital Partners LLC, an affiliate of Maria Fiorini Ramirez global consulting, a leading macro-economic advisory firm.
As VP of Business Development, Andrew’s role is to introduce Waveland’s product offerings to the independent broker-dealer and RIA financial channels, build and manage ongoing relationships with these partners and to provide sales, marketing and due diligence support for all investment offerings on Waveland’s platform. Andrew is an accomplished professional with expertise in a wide variety of financial specialties ranging from private equity investments to non-traded REITs, BDCs, options investing and sales management. He started his career with Hines Real Estate in São Paulo, Brazil. Andrew holds his FINRA Series 7 and 63 registrations and received his Bachelors’ degree in Business Administration from the University of Georgia where he studied real estate and finance.
